Graduate Research Opportunities

Faculty directors of the Arizona Twin Project (Southwest Twin Panel) accept graduate students who are interested in genetic and environmental influences in health and development, early adversity exposure, physiological stress responses, and epigenetics.

Dr. Kathryn Lemery-Chaflant (klemery@asu.edu) and Dr. Leah Doane (Leah.Doane@asu.edu) will be reviewing applications for the admission of new graduate students for Fall 2025. Dr. Mary Davis (Mary.Davis@asu.edu) will not be accepting new graduate students for Fall 2025.

 Undergraduate Research Opportunities

We often recruit undergraduate students to help us with our data collection. We look for research assistants who possess high levels of interpersonal interaction skills and maintain excellent levels of professionalism. We currently have about 50 undergraduate research assistants in our lab and would not be able to conduct the research that we do without the help of our wonderful RAs! Research assistants either receive class credit (PSY 399, PSY 499, BIO495) or seek a paid summer internship for their time with the Southwest Twin Panel.

Responsibilities in the lab may include:

  • Contacting participants

  • Preparing lab materials

  • Helping with data collection and home visits

  • Coding videos

  • Working with questionnaires

  • Learning about the research process

Please note - We also have weekly lab meetings that focus on professional development for careers and graduate school.
